BEGINNING BOOK COLLECTING

Some Tips on What to Collect - Part 2

For Australians collecting books about Australia has long been a popular area of collecting.

Purists may argue that the term "Australiana" only applies to books published in the first years of colonization and the years of exploration which followed. More recently, the use of the term has widened to include local history, early industrial expansion, bushranging, the various gold rushes and Aboriginal Studies. If the wider use of the term is used it is still possible to find collectible books at a range of prices in these areas and to build a collection that could have significance and grow in value.

Within this wider meaning of the term "Australiana", books related to the Blue Mountains area of NSW are widely collected.
